ABOUT DR. WHITNEY

Dr. Brian Whitney is a native of Utah with deep roots in Parowan. He grew up in Salt Lake City but moved to Cedar City in 1973 when his father returned to Southern Utah to open an Optometric Practice.

Dr. Whitney graduated from Cedar High School in 1978. He went on to graduate from SUU in 1984 after serving a 2 year LDS mission. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After, he attended Southern California College of Optometry where he earned his Doctorate of Optometry.

His plans after graduating were to join a practice in Flagstaff, AZ. But when his father died shortly before Dr. Whitney’s graduation; he headed to Cedar City to continue his father’s practice. Dr. Whitney loves being an Optometrist. He loves living in this community as well while providing primary eye care for everyone ranging from newborns to seniors. He has special interest in eye diseases, fitting specialty contact lenses, dry eye, lasik and cataract pre- and post-op care.

Dr. Whitney has been a community member of the Lion’s Club since he was in high school. He regularly volunteers in the many projects they are involved in. He is also a member of Utah Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Whitney enjoys being outdoors. He loves golfing, fishing, hunting, and a little farming on the side. He also enjoys being with his family as much as possible.
Dr. Whitney’s motto has always been about treating people as if they were his family. He wants to make sure everyone is happy and feels important.
